The purpose of Keoua Honaunau Canoe Club is to perpetuate the ancient art and culture of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling as traditionally practiced on historic Honaunau Bay, and to promote awareness of Hawaiian culture and its preservation and perpetuation.
Our programs are open to all members and include Youth and Novice programs.
Membership is open to the public. Our programs promote environmental awareness; Hawaiian cultural concepts of family (‘ohana), cooperation (laulima) and making things right (ho‘oponopono); and include instruction in Hawaiian language associated with traditional outrigger canoe paddling, construction, operation, maintenance, and repair.
Keoua Honaunau Canoe Club is especially dedicated to serving its youngest members through our well-developed youth program. Keoua has also been a community leader in the area of marine resource protection, working in partnership with state and federal agencies to bring more awareness to the importance of reef and marine mammal protection in Honaunau Bay, an area heavily visited by tourists and local families.
Keoua Honaunau Canoe Club is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Any contributions to the club are deductible under section 170 of the Code. Our EIN is 99-0351116.
