About Keoua Canoe Club
Keoua Honaunau Canoe Club is a medium-sized club with about 150 active members. Located in South Kona at beautiful Honaunau Bay, next to Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, we welcome new paddlers of any age to join us. We are honored to paddle in some of the most pristine, splendid and sacred waters in all of Hawaii.
Our fleet of canoes includes practice boats, racers, and two custom-built koa canoes, Honaunau, our first Tahitian-style koa, and Ka’ahumanu, a Hawaiian-style koa legal for state races and the seasoned veteran of many a Moloka’i crossing. Many club members also participate in the OC1 racing season, or paddle OC1s recreationally. OC1 storage is available at the halau to club members only.
Dues are $60 per year for adult membership and $30 per child. Family membership fees: Per couple: $100. Per family: First child $30, each child thereafter, $10. OC-1 storage dues are $60. Dues must be paid in full before the member can race or store canoes. Priority on the racks go to active (participating or racing) KHCC members. Racks are assigned.

Club Fundraisers
Keoua Honaunau Canoe Club hosts three fundraisers per year: The annual HIPA Uncle Louis OC1 race in January, (this year it will be the HIPA finals, held in March, date TBA); the Mac-a-Thon 5K-10K running event and pancake breakfast, held the Saturday before Easter, and the annual memorial Calvin Kelekolio Long Distance Race and Luau, held mid-August. All club members are expected to help at every fundraiser. We welcome your recycles, which are used to finance expenses for the juniors program. (Drop-off bins on halau grounds.)
